For most of us, life takes over and days are full.
Between work, school, meals, after school activities, and everything in between, it can feel hard to slow down. When you finally make it home it's dinner, showers and bedtime. Faith usually gets put on the back burner and then it's, " we will do twice as much tomorrow."
It doesn't have to be that complicated.
There is no perfect plan or an extra-long lesson, you just need a few minutes and a willing heart.
Here's a simple 5-minute devotional you can do anytime, at the dinner table, before bed, or even in the car on the way home.
Start with a simple verse.
" In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16
Ask your kids, " What do you think it means to let your light shine?"
Explain in your own words what it means to you.
" Showing kindness, love, and goodness, just like Jesus showed other. Live a life like Jesus so that others will wonder, "Hey, I want to know more about Jesus."
Apply it:
"How can you shine your light today or tomorrow?"
Let them think of their own ways to answer....or give them ideas:
Helping a sibling with something
Being kind at school
Doing something nice for someone without being asked
Pray Together
God, help us shine our light today by showing love and kindness. Thank you being with us always. In your name we pray, Amen.
These small moments add up more than we realize. Over time, your child begins to understand that faith isn't just something we talk about but it's something we live.
Little Light Reminder:
Even the smallest light can shine brightly.
