When Everything Feels Important: Letting God Set the Priorities
Sometimes we become overwhelmed because we're trying to carry responsibilities God never asked us to carry all at once.
Waking up with that mental checklist of everything that needs to be happen and before you can even get to the first task, you are already behind.
We start to prioritize according to urgency, expectations, guilt, or doing everything that other people need from us, rather than asking God what He wants our attention on.
Maybe your problem isn't that you don't know how to manage your time. Maybe you've forgotten that your time belongs to God first.
Luke 10: 38-42
"As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" "Martha, Martha, " the Lord answered, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed, or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."
Sometimes, Prioritizing isn't about finding a way to squeeze everything into your day. It's about trusting God enough to recognize what belongs in your day, and what can wait. Give yourself a little Grace, because even at times when you feel like you are accomplishing nothing, your worth has never been measured by how much you can check off your list.
Prayer
Lord, help me recognize what You have actually asked me to carry. Give me wisdom to know what deserves my attention today and the courage to let go of what doesn't. Quiet the noise in my mind so I can hear Your direction. Help me remember that I don't have to accomplish everything to be worthy, productive, or loved. I simply need to follow You one step at a time. Amen
